THE FOUNDING GUIDE COHORT

Who would you trust with a young person you deeply love?

Who would you trust with a young person you deeply love?

We are assembling a small founding cohort of exceptional people to support young people whose way of thinking, feeling, learning or experiencing the world does not always fit neatly within conventional approaches. We are looking for depth, presence, judgment and the ability to genuinely meet another person where they are.

Up to 12 founding Guides. Chosen with care.

Some young people experience the world differently.

Some young people experience the world differently.

They may think differently. Feel deeply. Notice what others miss. Learn in unexpected ways. Question assumptions. Struggle within environments that were never designed around how they naturally operate. They may be described as neurodivergent, gifted, highly sensitive, twice exceptional, or simply different. But labels rarely tell us enough. What matters is understanding the person in front of us. Divergent Guides supports young people whose strengths, challenges and ways of experiencing the world do not always fit neatly within conventional systems.

Listen before advising.

Understand before defining.

Support rather than fix.

The first job is not to have the answer.

The first job is not to have the answer.

It is to meet another person where they actually are.

A Divergent Guide creates the kind of relationship in which a young person can feel genuinely seen, heard and understood, without being rushed toward a solution or asked to become someone they are not. Guiding may help someone understand themselves more clearly, recognise strengths and patterns, navigate relationships and life, and develop confidence in their own way of moving through the world.

Guidance, not therapy.

Guides do not diagnose or treat. When specialist clinical or professional support is needed, that expertise becomes part of the wider team.

Credentials can matter. Presence matters more.

Credentials can matter. Presence matters more.

There is no single professional background that makes someone a great Guide. Our founding Guides may come from education, coaching, mentoring, psychology, youth development, creative practice, entrepreneurship, contemplative work, or a completely different path. What matters most is how you meet another person.

Deep Listening

Without rushing to diagnose, advise or fix.

Grounded Presence

Self awareness, emotional regulation and maturity.

Relational Intelligence

The ability to create trust without controlling or needing to be the hero.

Discernment and Boundaries

Clear judgment around confidentiality, scope, safeguarding and when another form of support is needed.

Seeing the Whole Person

Meeting someone as a human being rather than a problem to solve.

Something Distinctly Your Own

Expertise, lived experience, cultural perspective or a deeply developed practice.

Professional coaching experience is not required. Presence, discernment and demonstrated ability matter more than credentials alone.

One young person. A team around them.

One young person. A team around them.

Every engagement begins by understanding the young person, their family and what they are facing. From there, we build the right support around them.

• A dedicated Guide for the young person
• Support for parents and the wider family
• Additional Guides or specialists
• Connections to psychologists, doctors or other professionals when needed
• Guides collaborate as part of a wider team rather than working in isolation.

Guides should be able to focus on guiding.

Guides should be able to focus on guiding.

We provide the structure around the relationship, including:

Thoughtful matching with families · Onboarding and Guide development · Collaboration with the wider Guide team · Safeguarding and professional boundaries · Access to specialists where needed · Administration and scheduling · Family and client coordination · Ongoing reflection, feedback and development

Each selected Guide develops an individual profile around their experience, strengths, working style, appropriate matches, boundaries and development.

We are starting small on purpose.

We are starting small on purpose.

We are forming an initial cohort of up to 12 founding Guides. The focus is quality: carefully curating people with the depth, judgment and presence this work requires. We want Guides who are not only capable of supporting families, but who we would want standing beside us as this community develops. The founding cohort will help establish the culture, quality and way of working from which Divergent Guides grows.

Carefully. Humanly. With depth.

Carefully. Humanly. With depth.

The relationship between a Guide and a young person matters too much for selection to be superficial. Our process is designed to understand the person behind the CV. Through conversation, practical exploration, references, safeguarding and onboarding, we look at how someone actually listens, responds and relates. Experience matters. But so do presence, judgment, self awareness, relational intelligence, boundaries, humility and the quality of attention you bring to another human being.

It may be you. It may be someone you know. The people best suited to this work do not always call themselves coaches. They may be teachers, mentors, therapists, founders, artists, practitioners, parents, community builders, or simply people whose own lives have taught them how to meet another person with unusual depth. You do not need to have all the answers. You do need to be able to sit with another person’s reality without immediately trying to make it fit your own. If this work speaks to something in you
